                                                           The Howff Club

Our links with the Howff Club, Dumfries, go back a long way, I'm reliably informed as far as 1973. It is always a pleasure to welcome some of their members at our events; sometimes as guests and sometimes as performers. We also send representatives to their annual supper which is held in the Globe Inn where Robert Burns drank during his time in Dumfries. It is held in the lounge bar which is full to capacity and beyond for the occasion! The supper runs from 7.00pm until late and always has a very full programme.

The Howff Club have their own private premises in the Inn, in a room that was once hidden and was only discovered quite recently when the window cleaner disputed the number of windows he should be paid for!

                                                                      The Globe Inn

Established in 1610, The Globe Inn, Dumfries has long been associated with Robert Burns, Scotland's national poet. At this, his howff, his favourite seat still survives, and some of his poetry may still be seen;  inscribed by Robert Burns, with a diamond, on his bedroom window.
